Packet Pickup
All family and community members who are running or walking in the 5K must pick up (or have someone pick up) their timed race bibs, t-shirts and packet (children participating in the KidsDash will only need to get their t-shirt. KidsDash does not include a timed bib or a packet).
- Race Day, April 22 from 12pm- 1:45pm, Alumni Plaza outside of Walb Union.
Getting to the Race
What time do I need to arrive and where does the race start and finish?
If you registered in advance for the 5K, you can arrive as late as 1:45pm. If you still need to register or pick up your packet, you can do so between 12pm and 1:45 pm on the day of the race; however, we will close packet pick up and registration promptly at 1:45 pm on race day. The race starts and finishes at Walb Union on the IPFW Campus. The KidsDash will start promptly at 1:30pm and the 5k race will start promptly at 2pm.
Where should I park?
There is plentiful parking in the IPFW Campus lots and parking garage. Enter thru the main entrance (Off Coliseum Blvd) and follow the signs that will direct you to the preferred lots.
Once you’ve arrived. . .
Where do I go?
Once you have arrived at the race, volunteers will be on hand to guide you to the meet up area, which will be located near the Start/Finish line.
What time does the race start?
The KidsDash begins at 1:30pm and our Running Water 5K Walk/Run will start promptly at 2pm on Sunday, April 22.
How will I know when to go to the Starting Line?
Listen for the PA announcements – runners will be called to line up at the start line around 1:50 pm. If you are a walker/ have a stroller, please stay near the back of the start line.
If I am a spectator, where do I go when the race is about to start?
An announcement will be made for all spectators to leave the start line chute just before the race starts. The start/finish line area will be the best place to cheer on your runner. Paths/roads on the 5K course will be closed to vehicular traffic during the race, and it may be difficult to view the race from different points along the course. If you would also like to see the race start and finish, please reference the course map.
Where will I find. . .
Restrooms?
Restrooms will be located in Walb Union near the start/finish line. Please reference the course map.
First Aid?
The first aid table will be located near the start/finish line.
Food and Beverages?
Runners will be served water on the course, and water and snacks immediately following the race.
Bag Check?
There is no bag check. We suggest leaving valuables at home, and carrying only what you need.
The 5K Course Itself
How far is The Running Water 5K Walk/Run and what can I expect on the course?
Our 5K is a standard 3.1 miles. For an overview of the course, please refer to the Course Map.
- How do I handle the Water Stop?
Runners are encouraged to quickly pick up a cup of water from our wonderful volunteers and keep moving. It is OK to walk but please DO NOT stop as it becomes a hazard for other runners/walkers who are behind you. Please discard your cups in the designated trash bags.
- Why are there barricades around the start and finish areas?
The barricades form the race’s start and the finish chute and are in place to ensure that runners transition smoothly and quickly before and after the race. Both the start and finish chutes are RUNNER/WALKER ONLY areas in order to ensure the safety of the runners. Spectators should not cross the barricades.
- Will there be water at the Finish Line?
There will be water and snacks provided by Bob Evans in the finishers chute
After the 5K
- Where do I go after the 5K to meet my runner/walker?
Before the race starts, set a meeting location with your runner/walker or meet him or her at the end of the finishers chute.
- What happens after the 5K?
Find a moment to celebrate your friends/family and take a photo! Make sure you use the hashtag #intouchsalonspa. Running/walking a 5K, especially if it’s the first time, is a milestone for any person.
- When and where can I see the race results?
Results will be available immediately following the race near the start/finish line. You will be able to see pace and overall time of the runner/walker! Remember – results will be posted by bib number and or name. Please remember to write down your bib number.
Special Circumstances
I have not registered for the race but I would like to run. What do I do?
If the race has not reached registration capacity, there will be a “Race Day Registration” table at Runner Assistance where we will be able to get you registered. The cost of Race Day Registration is $20(cash or check accepted). Please go to the Runner Assistance tent located near the start line. However, it is always best to register for the 5K prior to race day to ensure you are able to run the 5K. Race shirts/swag cannot be guaranteed if you register on race day.
What if it’s raining/very cold/very windy? Is there a contingency for inclement weather?
We’ll see you at the race! The race will go on, rain or shine. No refunds will be provided.
Are strollers allowed?
Yes, our 5Ks are family-friendly and strollers are allowed on the race course. However, everyone walking or running must be registered for the 5K and wearing the official Running Water 5K race bib in order to run/walk. Children in strollers may wear a race bib, but are not required.
I can no longer run, can I swap my registration with someone else?
Come to Runner Assistance on race day and the “new runner” can fill out the waivers and swap forms.
Can I bring my dog?
No. For the safety of the runners and spectators, we ask that you please leave your dogs at home
